October 8th marks LBC's 40th birthday and to celebrate, our archivist has picked out some of his favourite (and most bizarre!) jingles from the past 40 years. You can be the DJ - flick through the decades and just drag the jingle into the cart machine to hear them.
LBC started broadcasting on 8th October 1973 from Gough Square in The City. You could listen on 417m and 97.3 VHF.
Among our top presenters during the 70s were David Frost, Jon Snow and Janet Street-Porter. We had some unusual shows back then: Sir Edward Heath hosted a classical music show, while Geet Mala was a show especially for the Asian Community. And a certain man called Steve Allen started his career on LBC in 1979.
